The Memory Keeper's Daughter

http://www.memorykeepersdaughter.com/

A few days ago my sister came home telling me about a new book that MyRanda was reading. I love the Almost Moon book she recomended so on a diaper run to Target I picked it up.

Of course I read it, in less than a day. I couldn't put it down. It wasn't a typical book I would read, but it intrigued me just the same.

It starts off with a Dr. who has to deliver his own twins in a snow storm. His wife doesn't know it but their second baby born is a girl who has the traits of a down's syndrome child. He panics and tells the nurse to take it to an orphanage and tells his wife the baby died. She was gassed and was not awake when she was born.

That was the turning point of the book, and everyones lives were effected by that one lie. The nurse decides to keep the baby and raise it as her own. The Dr. and his wife never recover and its all down hill from there.

He never tells his wife or son the truth, and dies, letting them discover the truth on their own after 20 some years after the fact.
